I once read somewhere online that is now resonating with me. More or less, it said: "Growth is painful because you are sacrificing your old self in order to grow to the person you want to become."
I wish I could recall where I read that to properly give it the credit it deserves. I have repeatedly tried to teach myself how to program/code for what feels like an eternity now.
This time it feels different. I am 'sacrificing' my old self to better position myself to achieve the goals I have set out for myself.
Some of the things that I have done or in the process of completing:
- Waking up at 5:00am.
- Dedicating a set amount of time for studying and/or experimentation.
- Severely limiting and/or completely deleting social media accounts that would encourage brain rot.
- Taking my physical health more seriously.
- A 'just do it' mentality.
While all of these things are not tech related in any sense, these small changes in my day to day are not things my past self would do. Others looking in would even say that I didn't want it enough.
What small things do you think are hindering your growth? What part of your 'old self' do you need to sacrifice to reach the next level?
